Being next to the sea in everything we do, we understand the importance of preserving this fragile environment and the societies that live near it. That’s why we have a dedicated team focused on environmental issues.
- We implement environmental audits and checks on a periodic basis at all of our marinas
- We have full recycling and waste management facilities at all of our locations
- We invest in renewable energies, including solar water heating and solar PV
- 100% of our hazardous waste is recycled
- All electricity purchased by us is ‘green’ energy from 100% renewable sources
Charity and educational activities
We support The Green Blue, an environmental awareness campaign with the aim of educating and informing the boating community. We are also working with The Blue Marine Foundation to help solve the crisis in the oceans by providing innovative solutions to overfishing and enabling the creation of marine reserves. We offer support to a number of charities and worthwhile events in the boating industry and within the communities our marinas are located throughout the year. One of the projects we have been very proud to support for the past 29 years is the Sail Training Awards. These awards offer young high achievers and people who have overcome adverse personal circumstances the opportunity to live and work aboard a training yacht operated by Ocean Youth Trust South.
Health and safety
Everyone at MDL knows that a safe working environment contributes to effective and professional service to our customers – and less stress for everyone at work and at play in our locations. Our dedicated in-house Quality, Safety, Health and Environment Manager helps ensure that all our operational procedures and risk assessments follow the best safety practices – an approach we also adopt in our consultancy projects.
