Michelle Hitchcock awarded CMP certificate
Head of Business Development at Hamble-based MDL Marinas, Michelle Hitchcock, is celebrating after becoming the first woman to be awarded the Certified Marina Professional (CMP) certificate from the Global Marina Institute (GMI).
The awards, which are designed to recognise the skills and experience of those working in the marina sector, were presented at the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference held in Amsterdam from 17-19 November. Michelle is the first female to receive the award since the awards’ inception in 2012.
Michelle has worked for Europe’s leading marina group, MDL Marinas, since 1999 and is set to celebrate her 18th year with the company in 2017. Over the years she has worked in a variety of roles and is a truly excellent candidate.
Commenting on her accolade, Michelle said: “I am honoured and very proud to be awarded my CMP accreditation. It’s a major highlight in my career, made more special as the presentation was in front of an audience of my peers and the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference.”

She has worked very hard since she joined the company in 1999 and should also be very proud of becoming the first female to receive the award.”
The Global Marina Institute was formed in 2011 as a partnership between British Marine and Marina Industries Association. It delivers global marina training and certification with the aim of maintain and increasing standards in marinas across the world. The GMI has awarded 130 active Certified Marina Managers and Certified Marina Professionals across the globe and looks to continue this growth into 2017.
